by Edward Lear
18882.3 hours
Edward Lear began as an ornithological illustrator before turning to literary nonsense around 1837 after his eyesight failed. While entertaining the children of the Earl of Derby, he wrote poems and sketches that led to A Book of Nonsense in 1846. This volume gathers that book together with Nonsense Songs, Stories, Botany, and Alphabets (1870), More Nonsense (1872), and Laughable Lyrics (1877), which features his most celebrated fantastical creations including the Quangle Wangle.
